242 bird species have been recorded in this part of the Schoemanskloof valley (SAPAB2). Amongst the most sought-after birds occurring in this area are the Narina Trogon (frequently in the garden), the elusive African Finfoot in the Crocodile River, a breeding pair of Green Twinspots in the garden, as well as the Buff-spotted Flufftail. Take the opportunity to walk with the qualified and experienced bird guide to also get access to a private game farm across the river with some excellent birding.
The pool in the bottom of the garden is surrounded by beautiful trees and is a peaceful and tranquil spot to relax in and soak up the sun. Swimming towels are provided in the rooms for residents.
Bring your own bikes along and ride the easy gravel roads on either side of the Crocodile River – a wonderful family outing.
There is a 7-circuit classical labyrinth in the bottom of the forest. The path is lined with various species of indigenous plants which provide a kaleidoscope of colour at different times of the year. A fountain stream flows through the labyrinth and provides an ideal environment for many water loving creatures. The labyrinth is a serene spot to spend quiet time in contemplation. It is the ideal place to do some forest bathing, allowing your body to be engulfed and surrounded by the healing effects of Nature.
