WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
Have you ever created a Buddha Bowl?
I hadn’t either, but I had ordered them on occasion from restaurants. They were always tasty enough, but rather uninspiring as they usually seemed to be deconstructed salad ingredients placed in a bowl with different accompanying sauces! So when Marian advertised a “Buddha Bowl cooking course”, I was immediately ‘on board’, knowing how her take on a Buddha Bowl would be on another level, and boy, I wasn’t wrong!
You arrive at Old Joe’s Kaia, which epitomises tranquility. You’re in a homely environment with cats lounging on the deck, and the view of the beautiful mountain ahead of you. You meet the fellow participants over a jug of Kombucha, and then you sit around for the briefing before preparation commences. One learns about vitamins , protein and amino acids, and how to combine the best examples of these into one meal. You are given a clipboard with the recipes we would create, and then you are assigned one or two of the components making up the Buddha bowl. Then you enter the farmhouse kitchen…
There is a lot of joviality as you move around observing what the others are preparing, from sushi hand rolls to olive muffins, chickpea pancakes, gorgeous tomato sauce etc. I was preparing a Tabbouleh salad.
What an achievement when we had all completed our various dishes, and they were laid out along the centre of the long table.
Ravenous now, you select a bowl and start to assemble the Buddha bowl you are going to enjoy at another long table on the deck.
Now seated, you hold hands and speak one inspiring word that comes to mind, and then you begin to savour the beautiful Buddha bowl that you and your new friends have created.
My inspiring word would be simply “Amazing”. Do not miss out💚 (BG – 5 Oct)

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
An inspiring workshop and a perfect day.
As a Hindu vegetarian I needed new and healthy inspiration in the kitchen.
Marian not only tickled the tastebuds but educated us on a deeper level on food source. Which is a more fundamental way of understanding what to make and how to make whilst optimizing earth and human health.
I found this culinary workshop cerebral and practical. I loved how we all cooked together in the same kitchen. It was a buzz of excitement and efficiency. The kitchen was laid out into stations (by gentle kitchen staff) with 8 or more different dishes being prepared at the same time. Marian was able to effortlessly walk around and teach all of us making different dishes at the same time. It was beautiful to observe.
We ate in silence and this was a beautiful way to bookend the day ! It’s a beautiful way to escape and spend a day, learning, cooking and enjoying a meal together. ❤️ (SP – 5 Oct 2024)
