“Having had the privilege of tasting many of Marian’s delicious meals, I decided to sign up for her, “Take the Schlepp out of Meal prep” workshop.
Marian is a talented Chef and together with her team of delightful staff, they produce the most delicious food. Her meals are hearty and tantalize the tastebuds leaving you in food Heaven! She has also managed to refine vegan cooking into an art form. Being able to learn from Marian has been pure joy! Her class is well presented, fun, creative, well planned and her balance of flavors, colors, spices & seasoning is Alchemy at play!
During this workshop you learn everything from preparing sauces, to cooking with plant-based alternatives and learning how to plate food beautifully. I myself now have a great bunch of new recipes that I can fall back on when I’m feeling less creative and I definitely benefited from refreshing my kitchen knowledge. Plus, meal prepping is now much less of a chore thanks to Marian’s guidance.

Never having been to Old Joe’s Kaia before I didn’t know what to expect, as I was greeted by a gentle breeze flowing down the mountain, echoing through the wind chimes, I knew it was going to be the most tranquil and peaceful weekend away.
Not only are you hosted by the most friendly and down to earth people but you can feel the passion in what they do and love. I was blessed with the opportunity to have a cooking lesson with Marian, I was very skeptical at first, trying to figure out how all these exotic ingredients and spices would fit together to make a meal of her standard. I have never been so shocked at a result, I walked away from that weekend enlightened with so many different techniques and combinations that make mouth-watering vegan meals, that I wouldn’t even know are vegan if you put meals in a line up. I have had the immense pleasure of attending several of Marian’s cooking classes, since about 2016? I owned a restaurant in Benoni at that time, and brought some of my kitchen staff to about five of them in those days. Since then I have been back for several, on my own or with friends.
The whole experience is amazing, and the homely Seedling Kitchen instils a feeling of warmth and friendship. The cooking classes take on a specific theme, and more recently I attended last years Christmas Dinner cooking class. I had to impress my family who were coming for Christmas, all the way from Oz. I needed to ‘blow their socks off’ with a fully vegan dinner, and boy, I DID it!
As part of the experience it’s always a pleasure to meet and interact with likeminded people. Marian’s cooking classes are pure joy, and you come away sad that it’s ended, but motivated to present some gorgeous dishes to family and friends.” (BG)
