DIY Almond-Oats Milk
It is cheap and so easy to make your own plant milk…
…also knowing exactly what is in it – no additives, emulsifiers, flavour enhancers, colourants or thickners.
This milk is silky smooth and oh-so-good for you and your family!
You need the following to make 1L of milk:
- 75 g whole almonds
- 75 g raw oats (the blue box)
- medium size sieve or colander
- a nut milk bag ( get one here or here)
- a high-speed blender
- a medium size mixing bowl
- a 1L bottle
Place almonds and oats in a mixing bowl, cover with water and soak overnight.
Next morning drain into a colander and rinse well under a running tap. Transfer to a high-speed blender with 1 cup of water and blend until silky smooth. Add a bit more water if necessary.
Pour the mixture into the nut milk bag while hanging it over the mixing bowl. Slowly squeeze all the milk from the bag with both your hands until only the pulp stays behind. You can use the pulp for biscuits or in cereals afterwards.
Pour the liquid you have extracted into the final 1L container and top up with extra water until the bottle is full.
Shake before use.
This milk will keep for 2-4 days in the fridge.
