An Upgraded Library Built on Kindness

Some gifts are wrapped in paper.

Others arrive differently. Our dear friend, Marius Brits, gifted Old Joe’s Kaia with crate after crate of beautiful books. These are not simply books. They are decades of collecting, searching, rescuing and cherishing. Many came from second-hand bookshops that Marius owned or traded through over the years. Each volume carries its own quiet history.

We are deeply grateful for his extraordinary generosity. His gift has laid the foundation for what is becoming one of the most treasured spaces at Old Joe’s Kaia.

Christa Fourie is another friend that arrived just in time. She lovingly transformed what could have been shelves of random books into a true library. With patience, knowledge and care, she sorted the collection into meaningful categories. This made it possible for every guest to browse, discover and lose themselves in a world of ideas.

Watching these two remarkable people contribute their unique gifts reminded us that sometimes life sends exactly the right people at exactly the right time. Some may call it coincidence. We choose to call it grace.

Our Upgraded Library
